Kolo Toure is convinced that completing the campaign unbeaten at home can squeeze the Blues into the top four and a coveted place in the UEFA Champions League next season.

City’s brilliant 4-2 victory over leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was only enough to hold on to fourth spot for 24 hours until Tottenham reclaimed it by beating Everton.

But Tottenham, who have played a game more, and fellow rivals Aston Villa are still to venture to the City of Manchester Stadium, where the Blues have not lost since last April.

Skipper Toure said: “We are really strong at home and it is always tough for the team coming here. That is to our advantage and we need to make sure we don’t drop any silly points.

“We can go through the whole season unbeaten at home, and that’s very important. If we want to be in the top four, first of all we need to win every game we play at home.

We are trying to make that happen. Then when you go away you have to pick up a few points and do our best to win, like we did at Chelsea. That kind of result can give you more belief

Centre-half Kolo is unconcerned at City’s current fifth placing, with no game now until March 14 against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light to try and change that.

He insisted: “Finishing fourth is still right up there. We are well in the picture. We just need to be careful, and we can stay at the back until the end as long as we finish in the fourth place.

“We have all our focus on that, and with all the quality players that we have in the squad here, we can certainly achieve that.”
