Kelvin Etuhu is looking to end the season in style when he and his Cardiff City team-mates take on Blackpool in the Championship play-off final on Saturday.

The winger, on loan from City, is hoping to figure in what would be his first Wembley appearance.

“I’m really looking forward to the day – it’s going to be a fantastic experience for me as a young player, but I’ll be making sure I take it all in my stride and concentrate on getting the result,” said Kelvin.

“I’ve enjoyed my season at Cardiff, despite the injury troubles I’ve had. It’s now time for me to move forward though and prove myself.

“I’m happy the way things have gone for the team and the position we now find ourselves in – it’s great for everybody involved at the club.”

Kelvin has kept in touch with his City team-mates throughout the campaign and one in particular will be travelling to Wembley this weekend.

“I’ve got some good friends back at the club and I’ve kept in touch with how they’re all getting on throughout the season,” he said.

“Micah Richards is probably my best mate at the club and he’s wished me luck for the final - in fact, he’s hoping to come down and watch the game in person which is fantastic.”

Another City favourite, who has a house in the Vale of Glamorgan, has also been around and about to offer some words of advice.

“I’ve seen Craig Bellamy once or twice since I’ve been in South Wales,” said Kelvin. “Bellers is a top man and gives me some great input.

He’s already done so much in his career and has had a fantastic season at City. I’ve got a lot of respect and time for him

...Etuhu on Bellamy

Etuhu admits he isn’t sure whether he’ll be back at City next season or out on loan again as he attempts to establish himself in his own right.

He said: “Who knows what may happen at the end of the season? There may be the option of spending further time on loan at Cardiff but we’ll have to wait and see.

“All I’m thinking about at the moment is doing my part to help Cardiff reach the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. If we play the way I know we can then I hope we can get that result.”
