Emmanuel Adebayor says he is happy to argue with any of his team-mates so long as it helps bring success to City.

The Togolese striker was involved in a heated exchange of words with Vincent Kompany at Wolves last Saturday, attracting a host of predictable headlines in the press.

But the Blues’ striker says he has a close friendship with the Belgian defender and the pair spent yesterday laughing off suggestions they are anything but good mates on and off the pitch.

“Sometimes you have to shout and bawl to try and get a reaction from your team-mates and sometimes that means getting them worked up in order to do the right thing for the team,” said Ade.

“That’s what great teams do, but it is all about passion and desire to do well and if Vincent and I are guilty of that, neither of us have a problem with it.

“We are really good friends and we have had a good laugh about some of the things that were written about us yesterday.  It was funny because it is totally inaccurate.

The press have treated it as though there has been some kind of massive fall out, but it couldn’t be further from the truth – these things happen all the time in football at every club, either in matches or on the training ground and the only reason, as I say, is passion

“Vinnie and I love this club and are passionate about helping to make it successful, so if that means the odd disagreement, so be it. Trust me, if I have to have arguments with all my team-mates every single weekend in order to help us win the game, I’ll be doing exactly that and I’d want the same in return!”

Ade also says he is nearing peak form after scoring four goals in his last three appearances and hopes to win a run in the team as a result.

“I am hungry to play and haven’t had that many chances to play this season so I was determined to enjoy myself at Wolves and if people think I played well, then I’m happy, but I’d be much happier if we’d have gone on to win the game,” he said.

“My form is good and I’m feeling great, but I need to play to get some momentum and hopefully I will be able to do that now.

“I’ve been given the chance to play in the last few weeks and I’ve scored four goals which is great for my confidence and if I am involved against Lech Poznan and West Brom, I’m confident I can continue to score goals.”
