The Blues bounced back from two scoreless draws in emphatic style, going four goals up within an hour before Zoltan Gera grabbed one back.
It was too little, too late for the home side and the win puts City into third place but Belgian defender insists that the team know they cannot rest on their laurels.
“Everybody was delighted, the manager told us that we did our jobs well but the whole team put in a good performance today.
“At half time we said that this was the standard we want all season, it’s easy to say it but we played well.
We set a standard today, can we sustain it? My opinion is that we can, but it will take nothing less than the same commitment for the next game.
The time since the last game had seen a welter of criticism about recent results, but Vincent says the players knew they were capable of much more.
“When you play in a team with strong individuals and characters, if you don’t win a couple of games then the team will be happy about it and expect a result.
“Our reaction on the pitch today was one of a team that wants to do better and is ready to give 100% for our targets. We’re happy that it happened for us today.
“We have had some other good performances, Chelsea, Liverpool, even West Brom away. For us, it’s a question of keeping the standards that high for as long as we can.”
And with a nod to the critics, the 24-year-old added that he did not expect too much praise even for the manner of the win in west London, adding:
“We don’t expect anything from anybody, we’re just happy because we know we did our job. People can talk and write, but it does not really bother us. We understand it when there are signals from the fans, they were not happy after Birmingham but we do our best every day. If we keep doing that, I am sure we will be alright this season.”
