The clearly surprised manager was non-plussed as to why his side faded so quickly after making such a bright start at Molineux.
City lost valuable ground on their main rivals for a top four slot with a second defeat in succession but the way they surrendered these three points was, according to the manager, chalk and cheese to how the first batch were lost.
“Last week we played fantastic football with ten men for ninety minutes, today I am sorry for our supporters,” he declared after Wolves won only their second Barclays Premier League match of the season.
“We played very well for 15 minutes when we had four or five chances to score and then we played badly for the rest of the time. I don’t know why we stopped playing.

“We have respect for all teams and Wolves deserved the three points because they ran more than us. We played too much long ball. We stopped playing after 15 minutes. Maybe the players thought it was going to be an easy game. Such a thing does not exist in football.
City now face a Europa League trip to Poland before another road journey to WBA next Sunday and then the derby.
Mancini made it clear he will not put up with any more efforts like this one.
“I will watch the game again as soon as I can,” he declared.
“We played really badly and I must know why. I am really disappointed and I have no explanation for this performance.
“We have lost ground (on the leaders) but it is a long season and we must be tough and come back more strongly starting in Poland on Thursday. We can still have a big season but we must play better than this.”
