The Belgian centre-half received a whopping 65% of your votes, beating his competition for the prize by a distance. Carlos Tevez finds himself in second place with 18% of the vote, and Adam Johnson in third gaining 10%.
Kompany put in a collection of great displays for the Blues in September. His performance against Chelsea was rightly praised by fans, players and pundits alike. He received the highest compliment in that game as he forced Carlo Ancelotti into taking off Didier Drogba, who had not been given an inch all game by City’s No.4.
As well as stopping Premier League forwards, Kompany has also been superb in Europe, especially in the Juventus match where he was City’s stand-out player.
Whilst the former Hamburg man was on the pitch, the Blues’ defence only conceded two goals throughout the month, which is a testament to him and his partners in City’s defensive unit.
Since reverting from a defensive midfield role, Kompany has managed to make himself a fixture in the team, and is now forming a rock-solid partnership with Kolo Toure, ably supported by Joe Hart’s work between the sticks.
