The Bosnian admits he is yet to find his full stride since joining the Blues from Wolfsburg but he insists that he is mentally strong and will get better.
“I am happy; that is why I smile a lot. In life that is important,” he said after scoring his first home goal in the 5-0 rout of Notts County.
“I have to be stronger physically for the English league but I am strong mentally. I always keep my head up.
“I will need time to show my best but I am trying every game to work hard. People expect goals and I am not happy with two in seven or eight games. But I am trying to work for the team and make assists too.
“I will get used to the physicality in the Premier League. It is harder than the Bundesliga and I will get used to it. The referees do not whistle as much here.”
Dzeko is sure, too, that his embryonic partnership with Carlos Tevez will bear fruit and that there are already signs that things are coming together.
“I think we showed in the second half against Notts County how well we can play together. We understand each other better and communication is an important thing on the pitch,” he stressed referring to the fact that they each scored a goal made by the other.
“I was in a hotel for a month and now I am in my house. Everything will be easier for me. I am getting to know other players as people and learning from the experienced players like Patrick Vieira. I think everything will be ok.
“As a team we have three targets still to aim for so everything is good so far.”
