Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Adam Johnson is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The winger sustained an ankle injury in training last Thursday, and speaking after the game the City boss said that he could be without his services for two to three months.

With a busy schedule in the offing the news is a blow to City, who were also without Carlos Tevez at Meadow Lane on Sunday afternoon due to a back injury.

Mancini said: “Now we only have big problem, with Adam Johnson.

I think we have lost him for three months, it’s a big problem for us and it looks like the same kind of injury that Kolarov had.

“It’s very unlucky, we don’t have a player like Adam but I hope that Tevez will be OK for Birmingham, we will see on Monday.”
