The City and England defender is looking forward to seeing one or two old friends from the Black Country on Saturday and believes Mick McCarthy’s men will prove a tough nut to crack, regardless of their league position.
“It should be a good occasion,” said Lescott. “Both teams are in form so it will be a tough game. They’ve beat Chelsea and Liverpool recently so they’ll be coming here for a win, not just a draw.
“It’ll be a massive game for me. They always been good to me and they’re doing well so it should be a great game.”
Lescott also dismissed speculation surrounding Wolves boss Mick McCarthy’s future, claiming the ex-City centre-back is the right man for the job.
“I don’t think those inside the club have ever been in any doubt about Mick’s future,” he said. “Any criticism in the past has come from outside of Wolves Football Club. The fans, the players and the board all respect what he’s done for the club and they’ve never put him under any pressure.
It’s important for them to stay in the Premier League and hopefully Mick will help them do that because he’s a really nice guy

“Saturday’s game will be a tough game because they’re fighting hard to stay in the league. On the back of their last few results against Chelsea and Liverpool, they’ll be confident about coming to our place and that will make for a great game. Obviously, I hope they stay up.”
One player Lescott believes City have to get a grip on early in the game is Matt Jarvis. He also believes the talented winger should stay put for the time being, particularly with the plaudits of late proving he is on the radar for the national team.
“Jarvis wasn’t there when I was but I’ve played against him in the lower leagues,” he said. “We both came through at the same time and when I was at Wolves, he was playing for Gillingham.
“He’s always been an exciting player and I’m glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. He’s playing well for Wolves and he’s getting noticed by England. At this moment in time, Wolves is the perfect place for him.”
