Roberto Mancini believes Emmanuel Adebayor's loan move to Real Madrid is ideal for all parties, but especially for the player.

With the Togolese striker finding chances limited at City over the past few months, plus Edin Dzeko arriving during the January transfer window, the offer to move to the Bernabéu was too good to turn down.

This is a big chance for him and I hope he can do well.

“He will be with Real Madrid for the next five months and I hope he plays often and scores a lot of goals.

“La Liga is a very good league to play in and I’m sure he will enjoy his time in Spain and playing alongside players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.”

Madrid have an option to purchase the former Arsenal striker, who scored 19 goals in 36 league and cup starts for the Blues, at the end of the loan deal.

Adebayor’s last goal for City came in the Europa League away to Lech Poznan last November and he is likely to make his debut this Sunday against Osasuna after passing his medical with flying colours.
