Academy youngster Devante Cole has signed a three-year contract with City.

The England Under-16 striker made excellent progress last season, appeared for City’s Under-18s in 2010/11 and has played five times at international level this year, scoring twice.

The 16-year-old has been with City for several years and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of father and former City, Newcastle and United striker Andy Cole after penning a new deal with the Blues.

Academy chief Mark Allen said: “Devante joins us as a scholar and he will go into the Under-17 level next season – a group of players we are quietly optimistic about.

“We’ll be pushing them forward next season and developing them further and I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of him and a lot of the other lads in the near future.”,
