Hart is busy preparing for Saturday’s European Championship qualifier against the Swiss on Saturday in the wake of a crucial third-place finish by Roberto Mancini’s FA Cup winners.
But he admitted: “I can’t wait to find out how much the Champions League will improve me. Getting it nailed on as well - at one point we were fighting for fourth - is great.
“We can really prepare for it properly now. It will be a big test for us. It is ‘big boys’ football’. We are all looking forward to the task.
“What has happened at City has given me a lot of confidence. We have achieved some fantastic things this season. We have all sat down and spoken about it, and we know we could have achieved more.
“That makes it more exciting for next season. We know what a tough task we have, to follow what we have just produced.”
First, Hart and his England team-mates aim to finish the season with the Wembley victory over Switzerland that would take Fabio Capello’s squad a step closer to the Euro2012 finals.
He said: “We have had a good start to the qualification campaign but three points are key on Saturday. It is a massive game and we do need to win - we would love to win.
“We are in a very good place in the group thus far. Three points would go a long way towards helping us.
Ninety minutes of togetherness, effort and quality. There isn’t much more you can ask
“England are expected to win every game. If we were playing a team with 500 people in it, we would still be expected to win at Wembley. Nothing changes there. We will turn up and do our best.
“I don’t know if beating them earlier in the season gives us a psychological edge. We know full well that when teams come to Wembley it is a huge day for them. We have to be ready.”
