Roberto Mancini is confident his team can bounce back from the midweek loss to Kyiv and progress to the FA Cup semi-finals, though he expects Reading to be a tough obstacle.

City will aim to put the 2-0 Europa League defeat to the back of their minds and move to within one victory of a first FA Cup final since 1981 and Mancini says he won’t have to motivate his team for this game.

“It won’t be hard to pick them up because the FA Cup is really important to us,” said the City boss.

“When you lose a game, you want to play the day after. The Kyiv loss won’t affect us. The FA Cup is totally different and offers us a big chance.

We know how long it’s been since the last semi-final so this would be good for us, good for the club and the fans

...Roberto Mancini.

“This is a really big chance for us to get to Wembley, but it is also a really difficult tie for us because Reading have shown what they are capable of by beating Everton. Notts County and Leicester both proved to be difficult games so we know what to expect.

“This is a big week coming up in all three competitions. The Europa League is going to be hard for us, but we still have a chance. In football, you never know. The next few days will be very important for this club”
