The Blues’ current total of 68 points is their best ever in the Premier League – one more than last season with one game still to play.
Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Stoke saw Roberto Mancini’s team complete their best home PL season to date having totted up 43 points out of a possible 57 this term, beating the previous record set last season when 40 points were accrued over 19 games.
City are also guaranteed to at least match their highest top-flight finish for 33 years and perhaps better it. Tony Book’s side finished fourth in 1977/78 and were runners-up the season before that.
And there’s more! With 20 wins from 37 games, City have also beaten their previous record of 18 Premier League wins in one season by two games.
Joe Hart’s record of 28 clean sheets is a new club record, too, beating Nicky Weaver’s previous best of 26 set in the Second Division in 1999.
Roberto Mancini has won 47 of his 85 games in charge of the club, which gives him a win percentage of 55.8% - the second best in club history. Comparatively, Joe Mercer had a win ratio of 42.5% but was at the helm for 292 matches - Mancini has a long way to go in order to match that!
City won 15 of their final 16 home in all competitions and are unbeaten at the City of Manchester Stadium for five months – an incredible run of form.
Carlos Tevez could also become the first City player to land the coveted Premier League Golden Boot if he can score more goals than Dimitar Berbatov on Sunday – if neither finds the next the award will be shared.
All that plus a first FA Cup win for 42 years and a first-ever Champions League qualification – not a bad season!
