The Blues boss admitted that a seven-point advantage in the race for a top four spot was a healthy situation but has set his sights on another four wins to end the Premier League campaign with a flourish.
He has also showed that he had learned City are a team that tends not to do things the easy way after a hard-fought 2-1 win over West Ham during which a host of chances came and went.
“We made things hard for ourselves,” he declared. “We scored two goals and thought we had done enough.
“The pace went out of our play and that invites trouble. We had lots of chances and began by playing some fantastic football but then we slackened off. Games are not over until the final whistle.
We cannot relax until 22 May. We need to get maximum points and see where we finish
...Roberto Mancini
“We have been in the top four for a long time. We are not under pressure because we have a big chance to hit the target we set at the start of the season.”
Mancini had encouraging reports about Nigel de Jong and Pablo Zabaleta who were both hurt in the win over the Hammers and news of Micah Richards and Carlos Tevez who are back in training.
“Nigel had a problem with his hip about two days before the game and we took him off at half time as a precaution. He should be ok for the game at Everton,” revealed the boss.
“Scoring is not his job but his goal was very important. It opened up the game for us. That means we have had eight different players score our last eight Premier League goals which is fine because I don’t mind who scores as long as we win.
“I hope Micah will be back for the Everton game and Pablo has hurt his shin and ankle but should be ok. Carlos is doing some work now and we will see.
“I have picked the same team for the last three games but maybe we will change things at Everton and against Spurs.”
