Micah Richards has withdrawn from the England under 21 squad due to take part in the European Championships in Denmark.
The Blues star was injured in the warm up at Bolton on the final day of the season and has not sufficiently recovered.
Richards, who was likely to be captain and early in the year told mcfc.co.uk how much he was looking forward to the tournament, missed a chunk of the run-in - including the FA Cup semi-final win – thanks to a tight hamstring.
Fellow City players Ben Mee and Kieran Trippier must wait until 1 June to see if they have made under 21 boss Stuart Pearce’s final 23-man party.
