Edin Dzeko and Stefan Savic won't be going to next summer's Euro 2012 tournament after both Bosnia and Montenegro lost their play-off second legs.

Bosnia, who drew the first leg against Portugal 0-0, soon paid for the chances they missed last Friday in a thrilling encounter in Lisbon.

After falling 2-0 behind with less than half-an-hour played, the Bosnians were reduced to ten men after Senad Lulic was sent off after 54 minutes, but despite trailing 3-1 at the time, they bravely fought back to 3-2 before the Portuguese, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani, ran away with the game.

Dzeko played the full 90 minutes of the 6-2 defeat, but had little chance to impress on a disappointing evening for the City striker.

Stefan Savic fared no better as Montenegro failed to overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat to the Czech Republic. Petr Jiracek’s 81st minute goal sealed the tie and ended the Balkan nation’s exciting adventure in front of 10,100 fans.
