City will return from the international break as one of only ten unbeaten premier division sides across Europe.

The Blues’ record of ten wins, one draw and no defeats is actually the best of all the major European leagues – but who are the other undefeated sides?

Newcastle United – City’s next opponents – are the only other Premier League side with an unblemished league record so there is plenty at stake when the teams meet in front of a sell-out Etihad Stadium crowd a week on Saturday.

Staying close to home, Glasgow Rangers, who are currently racing away with the Scottish Premier League, are yet to lose this season and already look odds-on to claim yet another title.

In Italy, Juventus have managed to either win or draw all their Serie A games so far, though they trail leaders Udinese by two points and are currently in fourth position.

La Liga leaders Real Madrid have lost once, but reigning champions Barcelona remain unbeaten thanks to a last-gasp Lionel Messi equaliser away to Atletico Bilbao

Europe’s best....

Portugal boasts two undefeated sides in Benfica and Porto and Greece has three in the form of Panathinaikos, Olympiakos and Atromitos.

Other than that, there are no other teams in the remaining leagues across Europe.

Though we’ve concentrated on the top leagues, it is worth noting Huddersfield Town’s long unbeaten league run of 42 games, matching Nottingham Forest’s phenomenal run back in the days of Brian Clough (click the link for a classic clip of Cloughie talking about Malcolm Allison).

So with 11 league games without loss from this term and three more from the back end of last season, City need only avoid defeat for another 28 games in order to match the Terriers and Forest’s run!
