Roberto Mancini praised his side after he watched them cruise to victory over Fulham.

Though the Blues have wobbled on their recent travels, they maintained their blistering home form with a 3-0 win over Martin Jol’s side in wintry conditions at the Etihad Stadium.

“I am very pleased because this wasn’t easy and Fulham are a very good side with a fantastic, experienced manager,” said the City manager.

“The guys gave a very good display; we scored three goals and didn’t concede any.

It was important we had a clean sheet and we needed to get back to winning ways after the defeat to Everton

“It’s always good to score an early goal because you can take control of the game, which I thought we did today and I was happy that two of the goals were scored by our strikers.”

Mancini also singled out Adam Johnson, who was involved in the first two goals, winning a penalty and then seeing his low drive turned home by Chris Baird.

“I am pleased for Adam today because he took his chance very well,” he said. “We all know what a fantastic player he is and he knows he can become even better, but he worked and had a very good game.

“Edin Dzeko did very well too, and played for the team. I was happy with everyone from the defence to the strikers.”

Mancini also revealed Samir Nasri has a slight muscle strain but he is hoping he will be available for next weekend’s trip to Aston Villa.

He added that he will be watching the Chelsea v Manchester United match on Sunday with interest, though he won’t be cheering on anyone in particular.

“Who will I support?” he said. “I will support Manchester City, of course! I don’t think our win will put pressure on United because they are used to it.

“We can only worry about what we do and we have to keep winning and try and win every game we play.”
