The England No.1 says dwelling on the victory at Old Trafford last October could prove counter-productive ahead of what should be a titanic battle between the Premier League’s two leading teams.
“That’s in the past, now,” said Hart. “It’s gone for us but it’s also gone for them because they have produced some great form since.
“It’s nice for the fans to have those memories and to have the bragging rights, but for the players, it has gone, and we move on to Sunday and another big game.
“They owe us one, but that’s for them to feel and not our concern. We have to focus on our own game and we want to win every match we play regardless of the competition because if you win games you win trophies, and that is what we are all about.”
Hart is certain winning the FA Cup last May was the catalyst for the confidence and success enjoyed so far this season.
The Blues had to see United off in the semi-final of last year’s competition before going on to beat Stoke in the final and the City keeper says the importance of winning the trophy is immeasurable.
“It was huge for the club, huge for the fans and the players and helped us bring in some excellent players this year,” he said.
“There was a lot made about us winning the FA Cup, with all the local taunts about 35 years and so on, but they have all gone now That is what we are trying to repeat this season.

“We have a big enough and good enough squad to go for everything. As for Sunday’s game, we start from fresh; we are a good team and have earned a lot of respect this season, and we deserve it.
“This is not just another game - it’s a massive one for the city of Manchester and English football. We are the top two at the moment and all eyes will be on what happens on Sunday
“As a player, you feel privileged to play in these kind of games, I am looking forward to it and hopefully I will start and be part of another great encounter.”
