I’ve started riding in to training each morning from the hotel like a number of the lads – you might as well start as you mean to go on.

Of course, Kolo decided to make a race of it and sped past me while I was saying good morning to the MCFC website guys, but he’s my brother, I love him and I will let it pass – this time!

We have always been competitive and that’s not going to change now. Kolo is looking very sharp in training, but it doesn’t surprise me as he’s been training hard throughout the summer and we trained together when we were back home.

I’m slowly getting to where I want to be but I have to work that little bit harder because of my injury at the end of last season and we had another good work out this morning.

Obviously a few of the lads who were at the Euros aren’t with us here in Austria, but we’ll link up again soon enough.

One player I thought I’d talk about today is David Silva who is a popular member of the squad and a fantastic player. I played with Lionel Messi at Barcelona and I’m often asked how I rate David against Messi.

David Silva

It’s not a question that can really be answered because they are different players in so many ways.

Silva is a clever and Spanish players are sharp and very quick and is very important to us because he can turn a game with one brilliant pass

Messi is a different kind of player and, it goes without saying that he’s one of the best in the world. He can score many goals and dribble past four or five players in the blink of an eye so, as I say, it’s impossible to compare.

I’ve have to keep working hard on my game and that means giving everything I have in training and every time I play for City.

We are very lucky because we have some very good midfielders at this club and we will need them all to be at their best – me included - if we are to repeat the success of last season and kick on again.

Time to get back on the bike and head back to the hotel so see you tomorrow.

Yaya.
