Roberto Mancini says his team put in a good performance at Stamford Bridge, but need to be stronger and more effective in attack.

The City Chief believes the Blues could have been heading home with all three points if they had have capitalised on the chances they created.

“I think that we played very well, but we were missing a goal,” said Mancini.

“We had a lot of chances. We arrived easily at their box, but we are missing the last pass.

“When we are near the box, we should be very strong. If you are soft you can’t score and today we played very well until we got to the edge of the box when we were poor.”

It was in west London that City surrendered their unbeaten run in the league last season thanks to a Frank Lampard penalty, but a strong show in defence ensured that wasn’t the case this time around.

The Blues are now unbeaten in nineteen Premiership games and Mancini was also keen to point out the positives.

“Yes there are positives, we didn’t lose. It is difficult to play here and we dominated the game,” he declared.

“We played well after Real Madrid and our attitude was good.

“We are only missing the last pass and from the striker this is not possible, a striker should be strong.”
