October saw City go unbeaten in the Premier League and turn in some excellent performances in the process - and five City players have been nominated for the October Etihad Player of the Month award as a result.

Last month saw Edin Dzeko race away with the honour, but the Bosnian striker just misses out this month.

Our five nominations are:

Micah Richards

A brilliant return for the City defender who turned in several powerful performances before picking up an injury during the 1-0 win over Swansea. Micah played in three successive Premier League wins over Sunderland, West Brom and Swansea during which City conceded just one goal.

Micah

Joe Hart

Joe’s performance against Dortmund is almost worth the Player of the Month by itself, such was the England keeper’s brilliance on the night. But Joe made fantastic saves against West Brom and Swansea as well and there was little he could have done about any of Ajax’s three goals in the Champions League.

Hart

Gael Clichy

Solid, dependable and understated – Gael Clichy has been a model of consistency since joining City last season and he’s had a solid October with his display against Swansea among his best of the season. A more than useful attacking outlet, Gael is looking for his first Etihad monthly award.

James Milner

Milner was brilliant against Sunderland and was looking in top-form against West Brom before he was shown the red card with a tackle that was marginally late on Shane Long of Albion. Another solid performance against Ajax proves Milner has forced his way back into Roberto Mancini’s thinking and the end of his suspension can’t come quick enough.

Carlos Tevez

Carlos proved against Swansea that he is a match-winner on his day and he returned to peak form at exactly the right time. Courage, skill and endeavour – Tevez never gives in and his goal against the Swans was a top drawer strike from 20 yards. He also provided a vital assist for Edin Dzeko’s equaliser at West Brom during an impressive October for the Argentine.
