On the day that Barack Obama was elected in for a second term at the White House, City and England’s no.1 has swept to a landslide victory at the polls after a solid month between the sticks for the Blues.
Hart kept his first clean sheet of the season in the 3-0 win over Sunderland at the start of the month but it was Joe’s performance against Borussia Dortmund on 3 October that lay the foundations for this personal accolade.
He was instrumental on that night, pulling off a succession of breathtaking saves to keep City in touch with the talented German visitors which inspired City TV to put together this countdown of the greatest Hart stops.
Carlos Tevez claimed second place in the vote, while Micah Richards finished in third place after his brief but hugely impressive return from injury.
Another highlight of Hart’s October arrived when Swansea City visited the Etihad Stadium where he raced off his line to deny Michu in the first half and set up a narrow 1-0 win over Michael Laudrup’s charges.
It’s the third time that the keeper has won the award, after claiming the prize in September 2010 and again in February of this year.
Thanks to everyone who voted and watch out for the November nominees’ announcement towards the end of the month.
Look out for a desktop and mobile wallpaper to celebrate Joe’s award on the site in the coming days.
