Rafa Benitez and Chelsea beware; City’s Argentine sharpshooter has found the back of the net on average once every 111.3 minutes since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
Considering that Stamford Bridge was the place that City lost their unbeaten record last season, this is the kind of stat that could prove to be telling as Aguero takes aim at a Chelsea defence that has shipped 15 goals in its last seven games.
Aguero is joined by Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli in the all-time Premier League top ten list compiled by Opta, meaning that the Blues have statistically the most destructive marksmen.
Since fully recovering from the knee injury sustained in the opening game against Southampton, Kun has hit five goals in his last four games for City, while his compatriot Carlos Tevez is averaging a very healthy goal every other game so far this season, with six in 12.
More encouragingly still, Tevez has been Chelsea’s scourge since signing for City, hitting seven goals in his last eight appearances against the West London outfit - including one in August’s Community Shield clash.
Balotelli has the unenviable record of most shots without a Premier League goal so far this season (26), but even factoring that in, he’s 10th on the all-time list with a goal every 149.7 minutes.
Dzeko is positioned in between Henry and Van Nistelrooy on the list with his 22 goals spaced out on average every 125 minutes.
So there you have it, plenty of reasons to be optimistic ahead of Sunday’s crucial game.
