The Blues will set out to maintain their impressive 15-match unbeaten European home run when they host Borussia Dortmund in the Uefa Champions League.

The Group D clash will mark the first meeting of the two sides, but the German Champions have played on blue turf before when a floodlight issue saw a match against Manchester United moved to Maine Road in 1956!

Die Borussen will approach the match at the Etihad Stadium with a degree of confidence after securing three points with a 1-0 win over Dutch champions Ajax in their opening game.

Dortmund 1

City meanwhile will be determined to put the dramatic 3-2 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid behind them and go in search of their first points of the campaign.

The Blues have made the Etihad Stadium into somewhat of a fortress on European home nights. Their last defeat came during the knockout stages of the 2008/9 UEFA Cup when they lost 1-0 to Danish outfit FC Midtjylland.

Bayern Team Action

City’s home record against German opposition also makes for encouraging reading, recording three wins and a draw – the most recent a 2-0 success against FC Bayern München.

Dortmund meanwhile lost all three away fixtures in last season’s group stage and have not won on English soil in their last three attempts.
