Fulham match-winner Edin Dzeko is among the five nominees for the Etihad Player of the Month for August and September.

The City striker is joined by Joe Hart, Yaya Toure, Aleksandar Kolarov and Carlos Tevez for the first award of the 2012/13 season.

Voting is open now on Facebook and one person who nominates the eventual winner will be selected to present the award in person to the player at Carrington (UK-based entrants only). One overseas voter will win a personalised video message from the player, too.

Voting closes on Monday, 8 October at noon. The nominees are:

Edin Dzeko

With four goals in the opening two months of the season – three after coming on as sub – Edin Dzeko has more than earned his place in the five nominees for August and September. The Bosnian found the net against Southampton, QPR, Real Madrid and also scored the winner at Fulham with virtually his first touch. A fine start to the campaign.

Joe Hart

With City conceding more goals than usual in the opening weeks, Joe Hart will no doubt feel he hasn’t had the best of starts to the season – yet he has made some world class saves and actually ensured the Blues haven’t let in more. In almost every game he’s made at least one stunning save and his displays against Real Madrid and Arsenal were outstanding.

Yaya Toure

Yaya’s high standards have never slipped in the opening weeks of the campaign and he has also scored three vital goals including the opening strikes against Chelsea, Liverpool and QPR. Powerful and, at times, imperious, he also celebrated his 100th appearance for City against Fulham.

Aleksandar Kolarov

Steady in defence and lethal from dead-ball situations, Aleks Kolarov has enjoyed a solid couple of months. His delivery is never less than excellent and his goals against Real Madrid and Aston Villa prove he is one of the best set-piece specialists in Europe.

Carlos Tevez

Carlos started the season with a goal in each of his first four games while he has also provided three assists for his team-mates to score. His work-rate has been exemplary and his partnership with Sergio Aguero is perhaps the Blues’ most potent attack pairing. A terrific start to the 2012/13 campaign by the Argentine.
