James Milner says the Blues need to get back on track against Swansea on Saturday to put the disappointment of defeat in Amsterdam behind them.

The City midfielder admitted that the 3-1 loss to Ajax was hard to take, but is confident that he and his teammates can return to winning ways when they play host to Swansea tomorrow.

“It’s another important game, we need to win,” stressed Milner.

“Coming on the back of disappointment at Ajax, it’s important that we recover – get stuck back in and get fired up and ready to go.

“We can’t rest on our laurels and that disappointment.”

Many questions have been asked about what exactly went wrong on Wednesday night when after going 1-0 up, Roberto Mancini’s men seemed to lose their way against the Dutch champions.

Milner says the performance will be closely assessed and lessons will have to be learned and taken forward into the next game.

We need to look at the video and see what went wrong and where we can improve and take that into the match and come out with all guns blazing.

“We need to try and put away some of the demons from the last game by getting a good win against Swansea.”
