Yaya Toure won’t be giving the winning goal against Swansea up easily!

The Ivorian struck a powerful shot goalwards in the second minute of added time but it struck Kelechi Iheanacho on the way and looped over Lukasz Fabianski and into the net to secure three vital points for City.

Yaya, however, claims the goal should be his as it was destined for the back of the net anyway.

“When you see the action, the ball was going into the net,” said Yaya.

“When you shoot on target I think it is your goal because the intention was to score so can we do? We’ll see what the verdict it is but as far as I’m concerned, it’s mine!”

He added that it was a crucial win for the Blues, with Arsenal and Leicester still to play this weekend.

“At the beginning of the day we wanted to be back on top of the table and put a little bit of pressure on Leicester and Arsenal who play tomorrow,” he said.

“I think today it was very important to win against a difficult team like Swansea. In midweek we were fighting and running a lot against Borussia but I think it was good to win this game.

“We have great players and every one of them are very good individually and we keep going and believing.

“Of course, today we went through some difficulties and the weather was a little bit hard to play in, but we are very happy with the three points and happy to be back at the top of the table, even if it is only until Sunday.”
