Norwich will be followed by Dynamo Kyiv and then the Manchester derby – all game the Blues will need to win on order to keep the title flame flickering as well as potentially reaching unchartered ground in the Champions League.
One of the Blues’ most consistent performers this season, Ferna says only complete focus from here on is acceptable.
“It is a very important weekend for us,” said the Brazilian midfielder.
“We have a chance to win two games in a row before the Champions League clash and the derby and this will give us more confidence to play better.
“It is always tough to play against Norwich. I remember from the first game at home when we won in the last few moments. They are a very good team and they play at home now so it’s going to be a little bit harder for us but our team will concentrate 100% to get the three points there.
It’s tough because they fight until the end. Especially when you play in front of their fans, they never give up.
“You have to be clever to win those games. This game will be no different. It will be very, very hard for us and we have to be prepared for that, our manager will prepare the team very well for that. We will give our all to get three points there.”
Fernandinho says City have dropped too many points already this campaign, but are not alone.
He also believes there is time to put things right and finish the season strongly.
“This season we have been a little more inconsistent,” he said. “We have dropped some important points at home and this has made the difference to keep us off the top of the table.
“But there are still two months to go and 10 games to play and with our best form maybe we can be back at the top of the table soon.”
“We are one of the best in the league. We have a great squad with great players but we have to prove that on the pitch. Unfortunately we haven’t done that up to now. I hope the next two months – the last 10 games – we can prove that on the pitch and not just talking.”
And with so many people writing City’s chances off, he added: “I think this is a big mistake. We have great players and a great manager and we’re going to put our efforts into the games we have left to play.
“We want to start now with the next game against Norwich and then on to the derby. After that we will see what happens. We want to gain more confidence and when players return from injury they will make our squad even stronger.
“It’s a mix of belief between the players, staff and fans as well. When you see some fans saying “go on, we believe in you, we fight ‘til the end”
“This makes us stronger and on the pitch we try to do our best. We fight until the end and we never give up. Maybe this is the difference between Manchester City and the other teams and if we win it again it will be amazing for us.”
