Team news

City: Fabian Delph, Ilkay Gundogan and Benjamin Mendy are all nearing a return, but it remains to be seen whether they will be fit enough for the trip to the South Coast.

We’ll bring you an update on team news at Pep Guardiola’s pre-match press conference on Friday 25 August.

Bournemouth: Eddie Howe confirmed Jermaine Defoe will be involved in the Cherries’ midweek cup clash with Birmingham, so the striker should be fit enough for City’s visit.

The manager has also confirmed Simon Francis will miss out with a hamstring injury, while Junior Stanislas and Callum Wilson are still on the long-term injured list.

Last time

February marked the Blues last clash with Bournemouth and Guardiola’s men will have fond memories of that game as a Raheem Sterling goal and a deflected Sergio Aguero strike handed them all three points.
