Team news

Pep Guardiola currently has a full squad to choose from, with long term absentee Ilkay Gundogan the only man to miss out.

For the home side, the on-loan Kasey Palmer (hamstring) and Sean Scannell (ankle) will be unavailable.

The last time

This weekend’s clash is 17 years to the day since the two sides last met.

Back in 2000, Joe Royle’s Blues travelled to Huddersfield’s then-named McAlpine Stadium and came back with a point after a 1-1 draw.

Shaun Goater grabbed the City goal after Clyde Wijnhard had put the Terriers ahead.

We have to go back to 1988 for our last FA Cup meeting with Huddersfield.

A 0-0 draw at Maine Road ensured the tie went to a replay at the old Leeds Road, where goals from Andy Hinchcliffe, David White and Imre Varadi sent City through.

Stats and facts

  • This will be the 65th fixture between the two teams, with City winning 24 of those contests.
  • City’s largest league win came against Huddersfield – a 10-1 victory in November 1987.
  • 18 goal Yaya Toure top of the pile in the Cup, with two successful strikes.
  • Elias Kachunga is Town’s top scorer with 10, though defender Michael Hefele leads the FA Cup charts with two goals to his name.
  • Huddersfield sit third in the Championship and have lost only one of their last 10 league games.
