Team News

Ilkay Gundogan (knee) and Gabriel Jesus (foot) remain Pep Guardiola’s only absentees.

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson (foot) will be unavailable for the away side and Daniel Sturridge is also expected to miss out.

Dejan Lovren played for 75 minutes for the U23s on Monday, but missed midweek training and remains a doubt for the weekend’s game. Roberto Firmino could be in line for a return, though, after he trained on his own on Wednesday.

The last time

An early Georginio Wijnaldum goal handed Liverpool a year-ending 1-0 win over the Blues at Anfield in December.

The Dutchman met Adam Lallana’s cross with his head to ensure the Reds scored with their only shot on target.

That goal made it four successive Premier League wins for Liverpool, a record City will want to end on Sunday.
