Team news

City

With David SilvaDaniloBenjamin Mendy and Claudio Bravo sidelined, the Blues are facing a difficult period with a packed festive schedule.

On a positive note: Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones were all named in Pep’s squad during Saturday’s clash with Everton, with KDB making a second half appearance from the bench.

Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha and James Tomkins are both back from suspension, but Martin Kelly and Wayne Hennessey are out. Cheikhou Kouyate is doubtful.

Last time

The two sides last met almost a year ago to the day in a goalless on New Year’s Eve. Most notably, Ederson saved an injury time penalty.

The Eagles’ last visit to the Etihad Stadium saw the Blues run out 5-0 victors, thanks to goals from Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling (2), Sergio Aguero and Fabian Delph.

Pep preview

“All the [Palace] players have quality and [they have] an incredible experienced manager.

“It’s so good and complicated to attack them. The reason why was that.

“When you win 18 games in a run you have to lose, that’s normal. We played decent and they missed a penalty.

“They know exactly what they have to do so maybe people expect better results but they create chances. It’s complicated.”

Roy Hodgson preview

“When you analyse what they’re capable of and what they’ve been doing, trying to come up with the right answers [to playing Manchester City] is anything other than a free hit.

“This is another an opportunity for us to go and show we are a good Premier League team and a chance to get points, it won’t be easy but it’s far from impossible.”
