Team news

City

As the first of four games in 11 days - across three competitions - squad rotation will be crucial for City.

Tonight’s game provides the perfect chance to rest key names, while handing valuable minutes to those players who have not accrued much gametime so far this season.

Youngsters Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz and Aro Muric could receive the nod, while Oleks Zinchenko, Fabian Delph and Gabriel Jesus may also feature.

Fulham

Fulham’s Joe Bryan (hamstring) is the Cottagers’ only doubt, and Kevin McDonald is suspended. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Harvey Elliott is in the squad.

The last time...

The two sides met a matter of weeks ago at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League, with Leroy Sane, David Silva and Raheem Sterling on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win.

The last League Cup meeting occurred in September 2009, as City clinched a 2-1 triumph, thanks to goals from Gareth Barry and Kolo Toure.

Oleks Zinchenko preview

“Of course, we have a lot of players who didn’t play last few weeks, and everyone wants to get the chance to show yourself, show your maximum,” he said.

“We are Man City, that’s why for us every competition is so important.”

Slavisa Jokanovic preview

“We started well in this competition, and actually the toughest game at the moment in the world is to play against City.

“This game comes at a good time for us to keep going with our improving process to keep working and not having to wait for another challenge.”
