The game will come too early for Bernardo Silva, who picked up a knock while away on international duty with Portugal, while Nicolas Otamendi is fit and ready to make his return.

Benjamin Mendy could be out for up to three months after he was forced to withdraw from the France squad during the international break and underwent surgery on his knee.

Kevin De Bruyne is ruled out with ligament damage which he sustained in the Carabao Cup win over Fulham.

Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is a long-term absentee, having sustained an Achilles tendon injury. The Chilean ‘keeper underwent scans, which confirmed a rupture in the tendon of his left foot.

The last time...

The two sides last met in April, with City running out 4-1 victors at the London Stadium

Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho were on the scoresheet, while former Blue Pablo Zabaleta put through his own net.

Aaron Cresswell had halved the deficit in the first half for the Hammers.

Pep Guardiola preview

Manuel Pellegrini preview

“I think City are improving every year. I left a couple of years ago and Pep has continued to do the work, buying new players and trying to improve the team and the club.

“I knew what would happen there and I am not disappointed with how it ended. I signed for three years and completed my contract. We improved a lot in those three years, winning the Premier League, reaching the FA Cup final and winning two League Cups.”
