Team news

City

Guardiola revealed in his press conference that Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany could be back for Manchester City when Wolves visit the Etihad on Monday.

Benjamin Mendy and Claudio Bravo remain long-term absentees.

Wolves

Wolves have no new injury concerns and are likely to welcome back their best players after the FA Cup win over Liverpool saw them rest a number of first-team stars.

Diogo Jota returned from a hamstring injury in that game and he is likely to be involved at the Etihad.

The Last Time

The two sides last met in August at Molineux, playing out a 1-1 draw as Aymeric Laporte cancelled out Willy Boly’s controversial opener.

      Head-to-head

There have been 118 meetings between the two sides, with City triumphing in 47.

There have been 25 draws and 46 defeats for the Blues.

Wolves’ last visit to the Etihad saw the hosts emerge victorious on penalties, following a goalless draw, en route to the Final.

      Pep’s preview

“We realised in the first game how complicated they would be.

“They are strong physically, make good runs in counter-attack. They defend well and deep, they control many areas.

“That is why they are doing incredibly well in the Premier League.”

          Stats

          • City are unbeaten in their last 34 PL home matches against promoted sides, since a defeat to Reading in February 2007 under Stuart Pearce.
          • David Silva is in line to make his 267th PL appearance, which would be more than any other City player in the competition’s history.
          • Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won nine points from their seven matches against last season’s top six clubs (W2 D3 L2), more than any team outside of those six.
