Team news

City

Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte will not be in contention before City’s FA Cup trip to Swansea.

The pair were substituted in Sunday’s Carabao Cup triumph over Chelsea through abductor and hamstring injuries and Guardiola admitted he does not expect the duo to return before the visit to the Liberty Stadium in mid-March.

Gabriel Jesus and John Stones both back and could feature.

Bournemouth

Lewis Cook and Simon Francis are ruled out with long-tern injuries.

Callum Wilson has missed the last eight games but is expected to be available for the game with City and ex-City Academy midfielder David Brooks has also returned from injury.

Last time

City and Bournemouth met at the start of December with the Blues winning 3-1.

Bernardo Silva put City ahead before Callum Wilson levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan scored after the break to secure three points for the champions.

Pep Guardiola preview

“Gabriel is back.. John is coming back too, like Gabriel.

“I think after international break they will be fit, especially Fernandinho. Maybe a few days later Aymeric.”

“Champions League is here, we have the FA Cup. So just focus on the players, let them recover well.

“I was impressed after 120 mins [against Chelsea] how well they play against West Ham. We did incredibly well.

“But now the recovery is less. We don’t play at 8pm like West Ham, we play at 3pm. So we aren’t training, just recovering.

“Bournemouth are completely different at home from the team who play away. They beat Chelsea 4-0 not long ago!

“That’s my concern, not the future, the pressure. It makes no sense, nobody knows.

“We are in a position, 30 points to play for, 10 games left, one point behind Liverpool,” he said. “Lots of things will happen. Anything can happen.”
