Unsurprisingly, there’s a plethora of press reaction to last night’s battle between two Premier League big guns, with Antonio Conte, Leroy Sane and David Silva all featuring in today’s media round-up.
We begin with the Chelsea boss, who was understandably pleased with the victory, but even more so as it came against a City side he declared are the best in the league during his post-match reaction.
The BBC have the quotes, in which the Italian says: “We must be pleased because we beat a strong team - the best team in the league.
“I think they have a great coach - the best in the world. To win this type of game at this time of the season is great.”
High praise indeed, the same of which can be said for some journalists’ reaction to Silva’s performance last night.
The Spaniard received glowing reviews for his display, with the Manchester Evening News picking him out as the Blues’ star man and awarding him a 9/10 rating.
“It was like it was 2012 all over again as he linked up with Aguero to devastating effect - even before the rebound from his shot found the Argentine midway through the first-half,” writes Ciaran Kelly.
“Continually found space and the mighty N’Golo Kante struggled to catch him. Shows no signs of slowing down at 31.”
Elsewhere, Leroy Sane has earned equally as impressive reviews in the aftermath of Wednesday evening’s showdown.
Indeed, the Mirror’s John Cross has branded the winger one of the Premier League’s most exciting prospects as he penned his reaction last night.
“It has taken a while but Sane is really in the groove,” suggests Cross.
“His tremendous pace and power makes him such a threat when he runs at opposing defences.
“Pep Guardiola picked him ahead of Raheem Sterling to carry a pacy threat and Sane is beginning to look the real deal.”
