It’s more of ‘the path is clear’ sort of story supposedly brought on by Real Madrid cooling their interest.
So a speculative story at best, but the pickings are thin this morning so let’s have a look at Sport Witnesses’ offering.
They write: “The 27-year-old has really built himself to be one of the most lethal strikers playing in European football at the moment, so his lifelong dream of playing for Real Madrid has been realistic.
“Unfortunately, according to SportBild, the dream is pretty much dead because Zinedine Zidane isn’t interested, so Aubameyang would have to look to other clubs like Manchester City or PSG instead.
“SportBild say Manchester City remain interested in the player, with Pep Guardiola obviously being well aware of Aubameyang’s talents. PSG are said to be ‘hottest’ in the race, but the speedy striker is ‘on the list’ for Guardiola at City.
“If Manchester City interest is genuine then Real Madrid having no interest would obviously be a huge boost, given the player’s preference for the Spanish club.”
Hmm… we move on!
In fact, we stay with Sport Witness who believe Bacary Sagna is high on the wanted list of Turkish side Fenerbahce.
They report: “The Turkish club currently have only one right-back in their squad after Gregory van der Wiel was sent to the reserves by Dick Advocaat.
“Advocaat believes winger Olexander Karavaiev can also play in this position, but the Dutchman told has the Fenerbahçe board signing an experienced right back has to be a priority for the next season.
“Manchester City defender Sagna has emerged as a candidate with claims Fenerbahçe are monitoring the Frenchman’s situation closely. It’s been revealed the Turkish giants are set to make an offer to Sagna for once his Manchester City contract expires in the summer.”
And finally on a day of slim pickings (no, not a country and western singer), a snippet that Pep Guardiola does have preference to which music his players listen to before a game.
Recently the City boss was asked what he liked following Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal revelation and Gael Clichy has revealed the answer – well, sort of.
The Mirror write of a pre-match moment when resident DJ Clichy was playing a rap record…: “He came to me and said “that was too slow we need something with a bit more boom boom’.
“He’s the kind of guy who looks at all the details,” adds Clichy. “He will be looking around and seeing if the player is happy with the music, if the player is alive.
“And I guess if he sees that then I’ve done my job.”
That’s it for today. There have been better round-ups to cover…
