The young German winger looks to have all the attributes to become one of the most exciting talents in the world and Soccer Souls focuses on the former Schalke star in their lead feature today.
They write: “Pep Guardiola has taken the young German under his wing and is handling him with utmost care. The Spanish manager did not put too much pressure on Sane, starting him in just 4 League games before the end of 2016.
“The slow approach worked wonders for the young winger as he went on to produce one his best performances in City colours against Arsenal. Not only did Sane display his quality but also managed to combine well with Sergio Aguero to form one of the League’s most lethal partnerships towards the end of the season.
“Similar to that of a young Cristiano Ronaldo, Sane combines amazing technical ability, physicality and calmness on the ball, making him look like a far more mature footballer than he actually is. Not only does he possess incredible pace but also combines it with incredible timing, and finishing of the highest quality.
“With an attacking line-up that already includes the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, the 21-year-old German winger is looking like he’d outshine them all.
Moving on to one of this summer’s recurring transfer stories and The Telegraph claim Arsenal will do everything in their power to rebuff City’s alleged interest in Alexis Sanchez.
The report reads: “The FA Cup holders will refuse to sell Sánchez to a domestic rival despite interest from Manchester City, who want to reunite the Chilean with former coach Pep Guardiola.
“Sanchez has one year remaining on his contract, meaning he will be ‘free’ in both senses next summer: free to walk to another English club while Arsenal recoup no transfer fee.
“Arsenal still hope to persuade the former Barcelona forward to sign a new deal, but have concluded that selling him abroad might be the easiest pill to swallow. Bayern Munich are among the European clubs interested.”
Expect that story to continue for several weeks.
Moving on to the new season and Brighton’s local paper The Argus covers the reaction to yesterday’s Premier League fixture release.
They write: “Brighton and Hove Albion will welcome Manchester City to the Amex for their historic first match in the Premier League.
“Chris Hughton and the Seagulls will face Pep Guardiola’s multi-million pound superstars on August 12.
“There was a cheer at the Amex yesterday morning as Manchester City were revealed as the first opponents.
“Supporter Angela Rigelsford, from Seaford, said it would be an exciting start. She said: ‘What an atmosphere that will be. “Fans and players will have to be as one and bring each other forward.’
Michael Rigelsford added: ‘We will be going up against one of the greatest managers in the game in Pep Guardiola.
‘Look at what he has done at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. They are probably favourites for the title.’
Meanwhile ClubCall carry a snippet suggesting the Blues are interested in a promising young Bundesliga prospect as they report: “Manchester City are reported to be lining up a swoop for RB Leipzig and Germany under-17 central midfielder Erik Majetschak.
“City boss Pep Guardiola has already started splashing the cash this summer, with the promise of more big-named arrivals to follow, but he also has one eye on the future.
“Majetschak has caught the eye when making his way through the youth ranks at the Bundesliga club, while he has also shone playing for Germany’s under-17 side.”
Finally, Ninety Minutes Online believe Wilfried Bony is attracting the interest of several top clubs.
The Ivorian will be keen to return to regular first team action during 2017/18 and the article reads: “Manchester City have told suitors of forgotten man Wilfried Bony that it will cost €20 million (£17.6 million) to secure his services, with Everton one of the team interested, according to Foot Mercato in France.
“The Ivory Coast international spent last season out on loan at Stoke City, where he failed to make much of an impression and is widely expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer should a club be found for him.
“He is said to have attracted interest from a number of clubs both domestically and overseas with West Ham United, Everton and West Bromwich Albion monitoring the forward as well as clubs from Turkey and Italy.”
