Our captain Vincent Kompany has been talking to the MailOnline about his future after his playing career and we’re sure it won’t come as a surprise that the Belgian would like to stay in football.
Quoted in Joe Bernstien’s article, Kompany admits that “I don’t know where I will be in football when I finish but it’s 100 per cent certain I will remain in football. It’s my passion.
“It’s like studying to be a doctor, doing all your exams and thinking ‘I’m 32 now, I am not going to be a doctor’.
“I’ve played and lived this game since I was six years old so I don’t see a reason why I should throw all that experience away all of a sudden.
“I have got good contact with the younger people here and I just love bringing across my experience and how I see certain things. I have learned from the best from their mistakes as well as my own and hopefully I will be better because of that.
“I’ve given myself the obligation to not think about anything regarding future contracts until my present contract is up.
“I’m really easy in my relationship with the club. It’s that good, there won’t be any panic on their side or my side. Let’s get the most out of these two years with City and international level and let’s see where we are at – no stress.”
Can you imagine a coach Kompany… Think you can!
The transfer mill is already in rotation and there are whispers of reports that City’s late target last month may be on the radar of another major European club.
Alexis Sanchez was the talk of a potential major move to Manchester City on deadline day but the deal was not able to be pulled off with reports suggesting that it was due to Arsenal failing to sign Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco.
This morning’s digital talk reveal that Spanish La Liga champions, Real Madrid have joined the mix in the Sanchez saga. Reporting for the Sunday Express, Jack Otway provides the details.
“It is said the player’s agent approached Madrid about bringing Sanchez back to La Liga.
“But Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane thought the club did not need him.
“Don Balon say the Frenchman is happy with his squad and thought any deal for Sanchez would be a luxury signing.
“However, Real are open to signing him as a free agent next summer.”
It’s yet to be known what the outcome of the January transfer window or even next summer’s transfer window will be but what’s certain is that the Chilean winger will be on hot target.
Elsewhere, it was a masterful performance from Spain who defeated Italy 3-0 in Madrid last night as David Silva took part in his side’s win.
NYCFC fans even got to see their main man as Villa managed to make an appearance in the dominant victory.
W.Gorton of SBNation reacts, revealing that the magician didn’t have to pull out a bag of tricks in this contest for La Roja.
“Manchester City’s David Silva didn’t even need to shine as he usually does with the national team.
“It was a collective spectacle from La Roja, and Spain have virtually guaranteed automatic qualification to next year’s World Cup.
“The final minutes featured the return of New York City FC superstar David Villa to the Spanish national team after three years, and Spain celebrated a sensational win against a great opponent. What a night.”
