The Croatians had taken an early lead through Dani Olmo’s superb volley, but Jesus’ header restored parity before the break and he added two more in a second half in which Phil Foden completed the scoring.
Having already qualified for the last 16 as group winners, Pep Guardiola made eight changes at Stadion Maksimir, with Eric Garcia handed his Champions League debut, whilst Taylor Harwood-Bellis would make his from the substitutes bench late in the game.
Dinamo, needing a win to give themselves a chance of reaching the knockout stage, enjoyed the perfect start as Olmo let a forward pass drop over his shoulder, before expertly volleying into the roof of Claudio Bravo’s net.
Jesus rose highest between two defenders to head home an equaliser and played a neat one-two with Foden before slotting into the bottom corner to put City in front.
He got his third after Dinamo ‘keeper, Dominik Livaković, missed Benjamin Mendy’s cross, allowing the Brazilian to tap into an empty net and Foden sealed the victory with a close-range finish.
