Raheem Sterling’s brace was cancelled out by a late Wolves fightback to see Manchester City lose 3-2 at Molineux.

Things did not get off to the smoothest of starts after Ederson was given his marching orders for bringing Diogo Jota down on the edge of the box as the forward raced in on goal.

But we found the breakthrough before the half-hour mark, when Riyad Mahrez was brought down in the box and Raheem Sterling tapped home at the second time of asking after Rui Patricio had initially saved his penalty.

Sterling chipped in for his brace soon after the restart following a lethal counter-attacking move from City before Adama Traore replied with a thumping finish inside the opening ten minutes of the final 45.

Pep Guardiola’s men withstood the onslaught for almost 30 second half minutes but were undone late on when Raul Jimenez poked home from close-range with ten to go, before Matt Doherty’s angled left-footed finish found the bottom corner of Claudio Bravo’s net.

Sterling was the length of the crossbar away from completing his hat-trick and earning City a point in stoppage time, but it was to no avail as Wolves held on to take all three points.
