Pep Guardiola’s men started brightly and forced Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey into some decent saves early on.
The hosts hung on for a majority of the first period but were eventually breached by Jesus in the 39th minute, who flicked in his 50th goal for City after a curling delivery by Bernardo Silva.
Seconds later, the Blues were celebrating again as skipper Silva volleyed expertly beyond Hennessey after a delightful chipped pass from Raheem Sterling. City continued to keep their foot on the pedal after the interval, with Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne unfortunately striking the post.
Despite the dominance, Ederson was called into action towards the end of the second half, firstly tipping Christian Benteke’s header onto the crossbar and then palming away a powerful Wilfried Zaha drive.
