Seeking a response to last week’s surprise loss at Norwich, the champions responded in devastating fashion, scoring five times inside the first 18 minutes.
Bernardo Silva claimed his first-ever City hat-trick as the champions wreaked havoc.
David Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi and Bernardo were all on target in a blistering start as was Sergio Aguero who registered his 100th career goal at the Etihad from the penalty spot.
The goals kept coming after the break with Bernardo adding two more to his first half effort and Kevin De Bruyne then struck a thunderbolt late on to set the seal on a memorable afternoon.
It was a remarkable all-round display and the perfect way to celebrate our 125th anniversary.
