Gallery: City off to Champions League flyer

City opened our Champions League Group C campaign in emphatic style with a hugely impressive 3-0 win away to Shakhtar Donetsk tonight.

It was a fine all-round display by Pep Guardiola’s side who went in at the break 2-0 ahead thanks to efforts from Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan.

And our dominance continued after the break with Gabriel Jesus adding a deserved third goal to serve up an exact repeat of last season’s result in Kharkiv.

Both the victory and the performance were the perfect response to last weekend’s Premier League setback at Norwich.
