Manchester City Women and England midfielder Jill Scott is eagerly-awaiting Sunday's FA Women's Cup clash with Reading.

Scott, who won the competition in 2010 with Everton Ladies, hopes to continue the Blues’ fine pre-season form but has advised her teammates to avoid complacency against the Royals.

City’s opponents reside in the FA Women’s Super League 2 and although Nick Cushing’s side comfortably downed two second-tier clubs in pre-season friendlies, Scott is expecting a very different scenario for this encounter.

“It’s going to be a tough game,” she stated. “Reading will provide very difficult opposition for us. They’re a very physical team.

“Their manager, Jayne Ludlow, used to play for Arsenal and she’s won the FA Cup numerous times so I’m sure she’ll have them up for it.”

Despite the warning, Scott maintains that City are in high spirits going into the clash and will be focusing on their own game, rather than the threat of the opposition.

“The girls are really excited to get going because we’ve had a long pre-season and we’ve done well,” she declared. “We’re unbeaten and we’ve played some good football, which is something we’ve been concentrating on.

“We try to focus on ourselves. We like to get the ball down if we can and stick to what we know.

“We’ve done that really well at times and hopefully, as the season goes on, we’ll be able to produce those kinds of performances every week.

“We’re feeling very positive and confident and we’ve had a good week of training behind us. Now, we want to put in a good performance on Sunday to make sure we progress to the next round of the Cup.”

Kick-off is at 2:07pm with tickets priced at £6 for adults and £4 for under-16s. Discounted admission for Concessions is also available at the cost of £5 for 16 to 21 year-olds, over 65s and disabled supporters.
