Manchester City Women’s Krystle Johnston is relishing the chance to test herself once again against some of the country’s best defenders - and she cannot wait to do so at the Club’s new home.

The 7,000-seat Stadium at the City Football Academy will host all of the Blues’ home games this season and Johnston is encouraging fans to show their support for last season’s Continental Cup winners as they again bid to fight on three fronts.

“It’s another really exciting year for us so I’d encourage people to come down and watch,” she declared.

“We’ve got a lot going for us this year. We’ve got a fantastic stadium and some brilliant players and we can’t wait to get started.

“We’ve been waiting a long time for this. We’ve been down to watch the under-18s and the under-21s play on the new pitch so we are desperate to get on there now.”

Johnston, who played a pivotal role in last season’s success, believes strong vocal support can be the difference for the players, recalling September’s crucial cup semi-final as one of her favourite memories at the Club.

“The best experience we had was when we played Chelsea at Hyde and everyone came down,” she smiled. “The pitch was so close to the fans and that encouraged us to get to the final last year.

“We want to go for everything this year and we want to make the Academy Stadium a fortress.

“To do that, we need our fans to help. It’s our new home and we want to win there as much as we can.”
