The England defender, who joined the club in November, is remaining positive, despite missing out on England’s clash with the USA and tomorrow’s friendly with Aston Villa, asserting the operation was successful.
She explained: “Everything went well. The surgeon said it went better than he expected and he was really happy.
“Basically, I’ve had a few surgeries before on the same knee and it’s given me a few problems over the last two years.”
After this type of surgery, it’s difficult to anticipate the recovery time. However, Bronze is fully focused on ensuring she returns to action as soon as possible when she is ready.
“There’s no rush because the season isn’t for a few weeks anyway,” she declared. “As long as I keep myself fit - which I am - I’ll be ready to just jump right in.
“It hasn’t affected my club or World Cup hopes. Everything is the same for me. England know that and if anything, me spending more time in the gym and making myself stronger to play in the World Cup is fine with them!
“The surgery is something I’ve been expecting but everything’s gone really well and I’m really happy.”
Manchester City Women host Aston Villa in a friendly on Saturday 21 February, marking their first ever game at the Academy Stadium.
The game kicks-off at 2pm - ahead of the first-team’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
